Do You Want To Be Acne Free? Then Make Sure You Avoid These 5 Mistakes!

If you are looking to improve your acne and become acne free then check out the common mistakes sufferers make when buying cleansers to treat their problem.

1. Surfectants, a fancy word for chemicals, are known to dissolve oils and allow dirt particles to be washed away. Bingo just wait you need! ... Not so fast! Chemicals like sodium lauryl sulfate and sodium C14-16 Olefin Sulfonate are harsh and are skin irritants so avoid cleansers that contain ingredients like these otherwise your acne could flare up.

2. I've found that cleansers in bar form contain harsh cleansing agents like sodium cocoate, and the ingredients that keep them in bar form can clog pores. They can also make the pH level of your skin more alkali which is an environment fit for bacteria which can stop you becoming acne free.

3. Facial or body scrubs containing rough particles like walnut can aggravate the skin. If you use scrubs opt for products containing

smooth, round, bead-like particles that are gentle on the skin.

4. Avoid products that are waxy and thick as these tend to clog pores and promote acne rather than a treatment for it.

5. Animal oils resemble human sebum (oil) and can clog pores similarly. Some people find emu oil to be an exception.

4. It does feel good when you by products that have a tingling cooling effect. It makes you think it must be working but the feeling is caused by skin irritants like menthol and camphor.

5. Medicated cleansers. If the medication contains a chemical exfoliant like salicylic acid, the cleanser is almost certain to have too high of a pH (over 4) to allow it to act as an exfoliant. It's likely that most of the medication will be washed off before given a chance to work. If you think that leaving it on your skin for a while to let it do its job your also giving the cleansing agents time to irritate the skin.
